Volunteer Registration
2025-26 VOLUNTEER (PARENT) REGISTRATION INFORMATION
VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION
(Previously known as Parent Registration)
All volunteers must complete Volunteer Registration and submit updated certification information through USA Hockey.
To stay organized, use the Volunteer Requirements Checklist to easily track and understand the requirements you need to complete this season
VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS
Step 1: USA Hockey Registration
You’ll need your unique USA Hockey Volunteer Number for the current season—this is required to complete all remaining steps.
Click the USA Hockey Membership Registration button below and select Volunteer as your membership type.
Step 2: STMA VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION
Please make sure each parent/guardian registers as a volunteer.
(Previously parents registration)
Click the Register button to the right.
Please register using the exact same name as your USA Hockey Registration (e.g., use “Rebecca” instead of “Becky” or “Nathan” instead of “Nate”).
Step 3: Background Screening
USA Hockey requires background screening every two years.
Not sure if you need a new background screen this year?
Follow the link above and click Begin a New Background Screen. After the welcome page, you’ll answer six short questions about your background.
On the next screen (Applicant Lookup), enter your last name, SSN, and date of birth. The system will let you know if you’re ineligible to submit a background check at this time—which means your current screening is still valid and you'll need to wait until next year to renew.
Step 4: SafeSport Training
USA Hockey requires SafeSport Training to be renewed every 12 months. Renewal becomes available 60 days before your expiration date. If your certification expires, you will be ineligible to participate as a coach until it is renewed.
Not sure if your SafeSport Training is current?
Follow the link above to access the U.S. Center for SafeSport Training. Log in using your current USA Hockey Volunteer Confirmation Number and USA Hockey password.
(The login screen will say “MyHockeyHQ Portal Login.”)
Once logged in, you’ll see your SafeSport Training expiration date and any available training courses.
If your certification is set to expire mid-season, a notification email will be sent to the address on file with USA Hockey.
