LEARNING TO SKATE
Fall 2025 Information
STMAYHA Learning to Skate teaches kids the fundamentals of ice skating through a progressive curriculum, providing the foundation they need to achieve their goals—whether in recreational or competitive skating. These clinics focus on building basic skating skills, and no prior experience is necessary!
What You’ll Need:
- Skates
- Hockey or bike helmet (No hockey sticks or other equipment required)
This is the perfect way for kids to gain confidence on the ice and get started with the basics!

- Boys and Girls ages 4 and up
*Kids will be divided into small groups depending on age and skill level.
When
Learning to Skate includes 4 sessions at STMA Arena.
- September 8 | 6:40–7:30 PM
- September 11 | 5:25–6:15 PM
- September 15 | 6:55–7:45 PM
- September 18 | 6:55–7:45 PM
If minimum class quota is not met, classes may be cancelled or combined.

Frequently Asked Questions
How early should we arrive?
Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to tie skates and get ready to get on the ice.
What if we change our mind after registering?
There is no pro-rating of registration fees for missed classes and no refunds once sessions start unless approved by the Director of Operations.
What kind of equipment do we need?
Helmets (hockey helmet or bike helmet) and skates are required and skaters should wear warm pants, jacket and gloves. No hockey stick or other equipment is needed. Sticks and pucks are NOT allowed. STMA does not provide rental skates.
Skates should have sharp edges to make it easier to skate. No double-blade skates allowed.
Can I help my skater on the ice?
For the safety of all our skaters and coaches, parents are not allowed on ice during lesson times.

Join us for this fun, four-session program designed for beginners of all ages to build confidence and develop skating skills. Each participant will receive a jersey—and if you register by August 15, it will be customized just for you!
