PeeWee AA Wins STMA Preview Cup

During the weekend of December  10-12, the Peewee AA team had a great time playing against some strong competition from northern Minnesota as they took home the championship title for the inaugural STMA Preview Cup tournament!

Their first game on Friday saw them matched up against a gritty Brainerd team who played it even for much of the 1st period, but ultimately the Knights simply had too much firepower and closed it out with a 6-0 win. On Friday’s second game of a doubleheader, the team faced off with perennial power Duluth East in a game where they dominated play from the opening whistle and secured consecutive shutout victories with a solid 5-0 triumph over the Greyhounds.

Saturday, the boys took on the Lumberjacks from Bemidji, who were very aptly named given their size, and while not always pretty, STMA ground out a 4-1 win that would allow them to control their own destiny going into the last day of play. Following the game, the Peewees ran over to the Blue Rink and together cheered on the Knights varsity team to their own section 8AA victory versus Bemidji.

The finale on Sunday pitted our squad against one of the most legendary programs in the state, Roseau, where the Knights jumped out to a quick lead, then rolled to a 10-3 victory with contributions coming from every line to take home the Preview Cup! The Peewee AA team would like to thank their parents, the STMA Youth Hockey Association along with all the tournament volunteers for their support to make the Preview Cup possible.
